The 4th Annual WWKC Virtual Koi & Goldfish Show will be held October 22-24, 2010 right here at wwkcinternetkoishow.com. There will be a meet and greet held the evening of Friday, October 22nd and judging and seminars throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Koi Show Rules
  1. Date: October 22-24, 2010
  2. Rules for showing fish
    1. This show is open only to members of Koiphen and the WWKC.
    2. Each participant will have their own virtual tank.
    3. Deadline for Entries is 11:59pm EST October 4th.
    4. All fish shown must be the personal and private property of the registrant.
    5. The koi show is not open to koi professionals. For the purposes of this show, a koi professional is: "one who derives income from a koi hobby related business." Examples would be as follows:
      1. Koi retailer or wholesaler (dealer)
      2. Dry goods retailer or wholesaler - sells koi food, pond filtration supplies, is a pond installer, pond maintenance, etc. In general, provides direct hobby related items or service affecting the life of a koi;
      3. An entrant must not have qualified as a koi professional for a period of one year prior to the show.
      4. An immediate relative of a koi dealer or employee of a koi dealer may show their own personal koi, provided they have owned the koi for at least one year and they are not available for sale.
      5. Any questions as to whether an entrant might fall into a particular category above, should be addressed to the Koi Show Chair.
    6. Each registrant is limited to 8 entries.
    7. Pictures must not be older than 6 months prior to show date.
    8. Koi Pictures must comply with the following guidelines:
      1. Container must be blue (preferably the same color as standard show bowls)
      2. Measurement scale must extend for entire length of fish and be marked in 1" increments with each inch marked with the appropriate number. Note: 1/2" marks would be a welcome addition and would help benching.
      3. Pictures must be taken from above fish, with nose at 6 O'clock facing towards you.
      4. High resolution pictures will be best.
    9. All photographs submitted will become property of the WWKC show and subject to copyright restrictions regarding copying.
    10. Photographs may be cropped, but will not be permitted to have any other editing.
    11. Photographs will be available for all to see from the time of entry until the next show.
    12. Video is being implemented for size 5 and 6. See video instructions at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOcGO1M_UDQ.
    13. Video must be loaded to youtube and link provided during registration of Size 5 and 6 only.
    14. Video is to be taken in a container with show bowl or show tank blue color and shall show all fins and tail, showing the koi moving, preferably in a nose down attitude.
    15. Video shall be a 60-90 second video INCLUDING AT LEAST 20-30 seconds of close up of the fish starting from head and slowly scanning to tail.
  3. Entry forms and fees
    1. Prior to entering koi in the show, you will have to register using your Koiphen sign on information.
    2. Once signed on, you will place your koi pictures in your virtual show tank, identifying size and variety and uploading pictures.
    3. This show is free to all eligible entrants.
    4. The benching team will verify that the koi have been entered into the right size and class, and may reclassify as needed.
      1. Koi will be measured from tip of nose to end of tail.
      2. Longfin koi will be measured from tip of nose to end of tail stop.
  4. Judging
    1. Judging will begin October 5th and be complete before October 22nd.
    2. The decision of the judges and/or the entry committee is final. Any contingences not covered clearly by these rule will be subject to the decision of the Show Chair.
    3. Move-ups will be automatic.
      1. Move-ups will take place for those fish selected for Grand Champion (A, B, & Longfin), Reserve Grand Champion (A, B, & Longfin), Adult, Young, Baby Champions, Best in Size and Best in Variety, Best Longfin over and under 8".
  5. Varieties and Sizes
    1. Six sizes will include 16 classifications.
      1. Hariwake will be judged in the Hikari Moyo class.
      2. Goshiki will be judged with Koromo.
      3. Gin Rin will be judged in 'A' (Gosanke and Utsuri) & 'B' (all others).
      4. Tancho will be Gosanke only.
    2. Gosanke: Kohaku, Sanke and or Showa
    3. Doitsu: There is no specific Doitsu class; Doitsu must be entered into appropriate regular scaled class. There will be a check box for doitsu to be noted for the doitsu award.
    4. Gin Rin: Koi with KinGinRin markings MUST be entered into the appropriate Gin Rin classification.
    5. Longfin
      1. There is one competitive class for longfin
      2. Four awards will be given for longfin

        3. Best Longfin over 8"

    8. Goldfish Pictures must comply with the following guidelines:
      1. Container for top view goldfish must be blue (preferably the same color as standard show bowls)
        1. Measurement scale must extend for entire length of fish and be marked in 1" increments with each inch marked with the appropriate number per example: Note: 1/2" marks would be a welcome addition and would help benching.
        2. Pictures must be taken from above with the nose facing the downward in the picture.
      2. Aquarium for side view goldfish must have a blue background.
        1. Pictures must be taken from the front of the tank with the fish facing right or left.
      3. Size classification will be determined by measuring the goldfish from nose to Peduncle (beginning of tail), and the fish will be sized as over 3" or under 3". Goldfish may be side view or top view, but not both.
      4. High resolution pictures will be best.
    9. All photographs submitted will become property of the WWKC show and subject to copyright restrictions regarding copying.
    10. Photographs may be cropped, but will not be permitted to have any other editing.
    11. Photographs will be available for all to see from the time of entry until the next show.
  3. Entry forms and fees

    1. Judging will begin October 5th and be complete before October 22nd.
